The winery project was initiated by the Sanchez – Rosado family in 1998, when they acquired “La Chamuscá” estate, located in the mountains of the municipality of Cártama, about 20 km west of the city of Málaga in the far south of Spain.
Their intention was to recuperate the winemaking tradition that had existed on the “Sierra de Cártama” mountains until the phylloxera ravaged it completely long time ago. It became the main motivation for many years of hard work, seeking steady progress in this passionate world of wine production.
The winery was recently acquired by a Belgian investors family, also passionate about wine. Their intention is to continue this fine tradition and invest in the winery’s further development and the creation of high-quality wines.
Presently, three wines are produced:
*a “Roble, Cártima Siglo XXI”, a full body, blended, red wine, aged in French and American oak barrels during 10 months,
*a “Moscatel Seco Cartima Siglo XXI”, dry white wine, produced from 100% of the famous Moscatel de Málaga grape, typical of the province of Málaga, partially fermented in French oak barrels and
aged over lees during 3 months and
*a “Rosé, Cártima Siglo XXI”, monovariety of 100% Syrah grapes, aromatic, fresh and pleasant to drink.
